MITHN Counselling Services are BACP Accredited and work to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
We offer a range of free and confidential talking therapies and self management skills in Tower Hamlets. People come to counselling to talk about a whole range of issues. Counselling can help people come to terms with or resolve certain issues, clarify ways to move forward or to release painful feelings.

This is not a crisis service, if you need immediate or urgent help, please contact the Tower Hamlets Crisis Team on 020 7771 5807.
We offer 8 weeks of one to one talking therapies (non CBT brief counselling) in the borough of Newham. This provides a safe and confidential space for you to esplore thoughts and feelings.
We have 4 locations where counselling can be carried out in Newham. This service is only available to Newham residents over the age of 18.
Counselling is free and is available:
- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays from 9am-4pm
- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm - 8pm
You can self refer via the NHS IAPT Team by telephoning 020 8475 8080. They will carry out a telephone assessment to determine suitability for brief counselling with our service. Once a counsellor has been allocated, you will be seen for 8 weeks at one of the locations in Newham. The sessions take place once a week for 50 minutes for up to 8 consecutive weeks. The Newham Bereavement Service is for adults living in Newham who have experienced grief, loss and bereavement.
We can offer a range of support which include:

We also provide external projects which provide one to one counselling for hard to reach clients. This includes counselling with Tower Hamlets Homes, The Prince's Trust, London Churchill College and other schools and homeless shelters in the area.

Please note there is a small charge for counselling provision. However, this is merely to cover the costs and is on a not for profit basis.
