Salary: NJC scale point 27-33 (currently £28,062 - £33,314 FTE per annum inclusive of Inner London Weighting). Pro rata salary for 24 hours at Scp 27 £19, 243 per annum Inclusive of Inner London weighting)

Mind in Tower Hamlets and Newham (MITHN) is a charity providing a wide range of services for residents in Tower Hamlets, Newham, Redbridge and Havering including: Counselling, Mental Health support services, Advocacy and community engagement activities.

MITHN has been subcontracted to deliver the brief counselling service for Newham Talking Therapies. This service has been in operation since 2010 and offers up to 8 counselling sessions for Newham residents with mild to moderate level presentations. The service is delivered by a pool of up to 20 clinical placement volunteers. The Counselling Coordinator will be part of the wider MITHN Counselling Team, which also delivers Bereavement Counselling in Newham and Talking Therapies in Tower Hamlets.

The Counselling Coordinator will be required to effectively manage the volunteers and the service at an operational and clinical level. The Counselling Coordinator will need to have demonstratable experience and knowledge in recruiting and managing volunteers, ideally within a counselling environment. The Coordinator will manage referrals and clinically support the volunteers to ensure that recovery targets are met, and clients are in the correct clinical pathway. 

The ideal candidate will have strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task in a pressurised environment. The role requires high-level understanding and ability to operate client database systems including the management and administration of client appointments, allocations and absences, in order to meet contractual obligations and KPI’s. You must be able to work independently as well successfully manage relationships with our NHS partners.
